Riyad as-Salihin 1829 (Book 18, Hadith 22) #38318
The Best of Muslims and Angels at Badr

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that the people who participated in the Battle of Badr were the best of Muslims, and Jibril (Gabriel) confirmed that this was also true for the angels who were present at Badr.

Rifa'ah bin Rafi' Az-Zuraqi (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Jibril (Gabriel) came to the Prophet and asked him: "How do you estimate among you those who participated in the battle of Badr?" He replied, "They were the best of Muslims" (or he may have said something similar to that). Jibril said: "The same is the case with the angels who were at Badr". Al- Bukhari.
QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in God; Strive to do good deeds; Fight against injustice; Believe in divine reward eventually; Be devoted to God's cause .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how highly esteemed those who participated in the Battle of Badr are. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that they were "the best of Muslims", which means they had a high level of faith and devotion to Allah. Jibril, or Gabriel, then confirmed this by saying that it was also true for the angels who were present at Badr. This shows us how important it is to have faith in Allah and strive to do good deeds, as these people did when they fought in battle against those who opposed them. It also teaches us that even if we don't see immediate results from our efforts, we should still keep striving because Allah will reward us for our good deeds eventually.
