Riyad as-Salihin 1593 (Book 17, Hadith 83) #38082
Forgiveness of Minor Sins and Reconciliation

SUMMARY: Allah forgives minor sins on Mondays and Thursdays, but those who have ill feelings towards their brothers will not be forgiven until they reconcile.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah said, "People's deeds are presented before Allah on Mondays and Thursdays, and then every slave (of Allah) is granted forgiveness (of minor sins) if he does not associate anything with Allah in worship. But the person in whose heart there is rancour against his brother, will not be pardoned. With regard to them, it is said twice: 'Hold these two until they are reconciled'". Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation. On Mondays and Thursdays our deeds are presented before Allah. If we do not associate anything with Allah in worship then we will be granted forgiveness for our minor sins. However if there is any rancour or ill feeling between us and our brother then we will not be pardoned until we reconcile with them. This hadith teaches us that it is important to forgive others as well as ourselves in order to receive the mercy of Allah. We should strive to make peace with those around us so that we can benefit from the blessings of forgiveness from God Almighty.
