The Importance of Using a Miswak

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) using a Miswak (tooth-stick) when he entered his house.

Shuraih bin Hani (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "What was the first thing which the Prophet would do when he entered his house?" She replied: "He would use Miswak (tooth-stick)". Muslim.
وعن شريح بن هانئ قال‏:‏ قلت لعائشة، رضي الله عنها‏:‏ بأي شيء كان يبدأ النبي إذا دخل بيته‏.‏ قالت‏:‏ بالسواك‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه مسلم‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of hygiene and oral health. It was reported by Shuraih bin Hani that he asked 'Aishah what was the first thing which the Prophet Muhammad would do when he entered his house. She replied that he would use a Miswak, which is a tooth-stick made from twigs or roots of certain trees. This shows us how important it was for him to maintain good hygiene and oral health even in his own home. He set an example for us to follow in order to stay healthy and clean both inside and out. We can learn from this hadith that we should take care of our teeth by brushing them regularly with toothpaste or using a miswak as well as other methods such as flossing or mouthwash to keep our mouths clean and healthy.
