Riyad as-Salihin 1050 (Book 8, Hadith 60) #37539
The Angels Who Visit Us

SUMMARY: Angels visit us during the day and night, and they report to Allah about our condition when we are performing Salat.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "There are angels who take turns in visiting you by night and by day, and they all assemble at the dawn (Fajr) and the afternoon ('Asr) prayers. Those who have spent the night with you, ascend to the heaven and their Rabb, Who knows better about them, asks: 'In what condition did you leave My slaves?' They reply: 'We left them while they were performing Salat and we went to them while they were performing Salat"'. Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform salat regularly with mindfulness of God's presence; strive for righteousness in all actions; obey God's commands; be mindful of His watchful eye at all times.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that angels are constantly visiting us throughout the day and night. They observe our actions, especially when we are performing salat or prayer. When they leave, they report back to Allah about how we were doing while in prayer. This teaches us that Allah is always watching over us and knows what we do even when no one else is around. We should strive to be mindful of this fact so that we can be sure to act in a way that pleases Him at all times.
