Supplicating to Allah for Cure

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visiting ailing members of his family and supplicating to Allah for their cure.

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the Prophet visited any ailing member of his family, he would touch the sick person with his right hand and would supplicate: "Allahumma Rabban-nasi, adhhibil-ba'sa, washfi, Antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka, shifaan la yughadiru saqaman O Allah! the Rabb of mankind! Remove this disease and cure (him or her)! You are the Great Curer. There is no cure but through You, which leaves behind no disease". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
وعنها أن النبي الله عليه وسلم الله عليه وسلم كان يعود بعض أهله يمسح بيده اليمني ويقول‏:‏ ‏"‏اللهم رب الناس، أذهب البأس، واشف، أنت الشافي لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك، شفاءً لا يغادر سقماً” ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the Prophet Muhammad's practice of visiting ailing members of his family and supplicating to Allah for their cure. He would touch the sick person with his right hand and recite a prayer, asking Allah to remove the disease and grant them healing. The prayer he recited was "O Allah! The Rabb of mankind! Remove this disease and cure him/her! You are the Great Curer. There is no cure but through You, which leaves behind no disease". This hadith teaches us that we should turn to God in times of difficulty, as He is our only source of help in times when we feel helpless. It also teaches us that we should show compassion towards those who are ill or suffering, by visiting them or praying for them. We can learn from this hadith that even though it may seem like there is no hope left, if we turn to God with faith then He will surely answer our prayers and grant us relief from our troubles.
