The Disapproval of Sitting in the Middle of a Gathering

SUMMARY: Sitting in the middle of a gathering is discouraged by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

Hudhaifah bin Al-Yaman (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah curses the one who sits in the middle of people's circle. Abu Dawud. A man sat in the middle of a circle so Hudhaifah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Cursed upon the tongue of Muhammad or he said Allah has cursed upon the tongue of Muhammad he who sits in the middle of the circle of a gathering. At-Tirmidhi.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect for those around you; Take up less space; Allow others to have their own place within the group.

EXPLANATIONS:
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us to respect others and their space. He discouraged people from sitting in the middle of a gathering as it can be seen as disrespectful. This hadith teaches us that we should always be mindful and respectful when we are around other people. We should not take up too much space or make ourselves more important than others by sitting in the middle of a group. Instead, we should show humility and respect for those around us by taking up less space and allowing others to have their own place within the group.
