The Virtue of Humbleness

SUMMARY: Humbleness is a virtue that will be rewarded on the Day of Resurrection.

Mu'adh bin Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "Whoever gives up wearing elegant and expensive garments out of humbleness, when he can do so, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection, before all of creation, He will give him the choice to wear whichever garment of Iman he would like to wear". At-Tirmidhi.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble and modest in dress and behavior; Do good deeds; Focus on being humble rather than showing off wealth or status

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that humbleness is a great virtue. He said that if someone chooses to give up wearing expensive and elegant clothes out of humbleness when they can afford it, Allah will reward them on the Day of Resurrection. On this day, Allah will call them before all creation and give them the choice to wear whichever garment of faith they would like to wear. This hadith teaches us that we should not show off our wealth or status by wearing expensive clothes but instead focus on being humble and modest in our dress and behavior. It also reminds us that our good deeds are not forgotten by Allah and He rewards those who do good in this life with even greater rewards in the hereafter.
