Riyad as-Salihin 781 (Book 3, Hadith 4) #37270
Prayer Amidst Distractions

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was seen in a red tent by Al-Abtah valley in Makkah, Bilal brought him ablution water and he made his ablution. Bilal then pronounced the call for prayer (Adhan) and the Prophet (ﷺ) led the prayer with a spear fixed as a Sutrah. Dogs and donkeys passed in front of him during the prayer but no one prevented them from doing so.

Abu Juhaifah Wahb bin 'Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I saw the Prophet by Al-Abtah valley in Makkah, in a red tent made from tanned skin. Bilal brought him ablution water. Then the Messenger of Allah came out wearing a red mantle; and I can still remember looking at whiteness of his shanks. So he made his ablution, and Bilal pronounced the call for prayer (Adhan). I kept following the movement of his (Bilal's) face to the right and to the left when he recited: 'Come to the prayer; come to the success'. Then a spear was fixed (as a Sutrah) in front of Messenger of Allah who then stepped forward and led the prayer. Dogs and donkeys passed in front of him (beyond the spear) and no one prevented them from doing so. Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Focus on Prayers , Make Ablutions Before Praying

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) performed his prayers despite distractions around him. He was seen at Al-Abtah valley in Makkah wearing a red mantle and making ablution with water brought to him by Bilal. Then Bilal pronounced the call for prayer (Adhan). A spear was fixed as a Sutrah in front of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who then stepped forward and led the prayer while dogs and donkeys passed by without anyone preventing them from doing so. This hadith teaches us that we should be focused on our prayers even when there are distractions around us; we should not let anything stop us from performing our religious duties properly. We must also remember that it is important to make ablutions before praying as it helps us to focus on our prayers better.
