Sahih al-Bukhari 3897 (Book 63, Hadith 122) #3725
Migration for Allah's Sake and its Rewards

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the reward of those who migrate for Allah's sake and how they are rewarded in this world or the hereafter.

Narrated Abu Wail: We visited Khabbaba who said, "We migrated with the Prophet for Allah's Sake, so our reward became due and sure with Allah. Some of us passed away without taking anything of their rewards (in this world) and one of them was Mus'ab bin 'Umar who was martyred on the day (of the battle) of Uhud leaving a striped woolen cloak. When we covered his head with it, his feet became naked, and when covered his feet, his head became naked. So Allah's Messenger ordered us to cover his head and put some Idhkhir (ie a special kind of grass) on his feet. (On the other hand) some of us have had their fruits ripened (in this world) and they are collecting them".

QUICK LESSONS:
Migrate for Allah's sake, Do good deeds out of faith rather than worldly gain

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the rewards that come with migrating for Allah's sake. It tells us that some people may not receive their rewards in this life but will be rewarded in the hereafter. It also mentions Mus'ab bin 'Umar who was martyred on the day of battle of Uhud and how he was covered with a woolen cloak so his head and feet were both covered. Lastly, it mentions those who have already received their rewards in this life by collecting them as fruits. This hadith teaches us to always strive to do good deeds as we will be rewarded either in this world or the next one. We should also remember those who have sacrificed their lives for a greater cause such as Mus'ab bin 'Umar and never forget them or their sacrifices.
