QUICK LESSONS:
Consult with others when appointing a leader or successor.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of succession and leadership in Islam. It was narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib, who was one of the closest companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that if he were to appoint someone as his successor without consulting anyone else, it would have been Ibn Umm 'Abd. This shows how important succession and leadership are in Islam and how much trust the Prophet had in Ibn Umm 'Abd. It also shows that even though succession is important, it should be done with consultation from others so that everyone can agree on who should lead them.
