Trustworthiness of Abu 'Ubaidah bin Jarrah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad sent Abu 'Ubaidah bin Jarrah as a trustworthy man to the people of Najran.

It was narrated from Hudhaifah that: The Messenger of Allah said to the people of Najran: "I will send you a trustworthy man with you, who is indeed trustworthy". The people craned their necks to see, and he sent Abu 'Ubaidah bin Jarrah.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ قَالَ لأَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ ‏ "‏ سَأَبْعَثُ مَعَكُمْ رَجُلاً أَمِينًا حَقَّ أَمِينٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَتَشَوَّفَ لَهَا النَّاسُ فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ
