Fulfilling Covenants

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) praised Talhah for fulfilling his covenant.

It was narrated that Musa bin Talhah said: We were with Mu'awiyah and he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Talhah is one of those who fulfilled their covenant'."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ طَلْحَةُ مِمَّنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of fulfilling one's covenant. A covenant is a promise or agreement between two people or groups that must be kept. In this hadith, Mu'awiyah was narrating a saying of the Prophet Muhammad in which he praised Talhah for fulfilling his covenant. This shows us that it is important to keep our promises and agreements and not break them as it will lead to praise from Allah and His Messenger. It also teaches us that we should strive to fulfill our covenants even if they are difficult because doing so will bring us closer to Allah and His Messenger's pleasure.
