The Consequences of Lying About the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: Lying about the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is a major sin and will result in punishment in Hell.

It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell".
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ
