The Power of Action

SUMMARY: Actions speak louder than words.

Malik said, "I heard that al-Qasim ibn Muhammad used to say, 'I have seen the people, (ie the companions), and they were not impressed by speech'. " Malik said, "He meant that only action and deeds would be looked at, not words".

QUICK LESSONS:
Focus on your actions rather than just talking about them or making promises you cannot keep. Do good deeds in order to make a difference in the world around you instead of just talking about it without taking any action.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the power of action and deeds over speech. It was narrated by Malik, who heard it from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad. Al-Qasim said that he had seen people and noticed that they were not impressed by speech alone; only action and deeds would be looked at, not words. This teaches us that we should focus on our actions rather than just talking about them or making promises we cannot keep. We should strive to do good deeds in order to make a difference in the world around us instead of just talking about it without taking any action.
