The Prophet (ﷺ) and the Tree

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was informed about the Jinns by a tree.

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman: "I asked Masruq, 'Who informed the Prophet about the Jinns at the night when they heard the Qur'an?' He said, 'Your father 'Abdullah informed me that a tree informed the Prophet about them'. "
حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ مَعْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي قَالَ، سَأَلْتُ مَسْرُوقًا مَنْ آذَنَ النَّبِيَّ بِالْجِنِّ لَيْلَةَ اسْتَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ‏.‏ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُوكَ ـ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ـ أَنَّهُ آذَنَتْ بِهِمْ شَجَرَةٌ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was informed of the presence of jinn when they heard him reciting from the Quran. It is narrated by 'Abdur-Rahman who asked his father 'Abdullah who in turn asked Masruq. According to this hadith, it was a tree that told the Prophet ﷺ about them. This hadith teaches us that even trees can be used as sources of knowledge and wisdom for us to learn from. It also shows us that Allah has given knowledge to all things in creation and we should be open to learning from them too. Furthermore, it reminds us of how powerful and important reciting Quran is as it can even reach those beyond our physical realm like jinn!
