The Power of Handshakes and Gifts

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised people to shake hands and give presents to each other in order to foster love and eliminate enmity.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ata ibn Abi Muslim that Abdullah al-Khurasani said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Shake hands and rancour will disappear. Give presents to each other and love each other and enmity will disappear'. "

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the power of handshakes and gifts in eliminating enmity between people. It was narrated by Yahya from Malik from Ata ibn Abi Muslim that Abdullah al-Khurasani said that the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said “Shake hands and rancour will disappear. Give presents to each other and love each other and enmity will disappear”. This hadith teaches us that we should be kind towards one another by shaking hands with others as a sign of friendship or reconciliation even if there is animosity between them. We should also give gifts as a gesture of goodwill which can help foster love between people who are not on good terms with one another. These simple acts can help bring peace among individuals or groups who are at odds with one another so they can live together harmoniously without any animosity or hatred towards one another.
