Declaring Sacred Sites

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad saw Uhud and declared it to be a sacred mountain, and he also declared the area between two tracts of black stones in Madina to be a Haram.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Amr, the mawla of al-Muttalib from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw Uhud and said, "This is a mountain which loves us and we love it. O Allah! Ibrahim made Makka Haram, and I will make what is between the two tracts of black stones (in Madina) a Haram".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect nature , Appreciate Allah's creations , Respect holy sites/places according to Islamic teachings .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad is seen declaring two sites as sacred. The first is Uhud mountain which he said loves them and they love it. This shows us that we should have an appreciation for nature and all of Allah's creations. The second site was between two tracts of black stones in Madina which he declared as a Haram. This shows us that we should respect places that are considered holy by our religion and not do anything inappropriate there or anywhere else for that matter. We should also strive to make our own cities or towns more holy by following Islamic teachings in our daily lives so that Allah will bless us with peace and prosperity.
