Be honest and careful in your actions

This hadith is about the consequences of having intercourse with someone else's slave girl. Umar ibn al-Khattab was informed that a man had done this and he asked for proof before taking any action. If the man could not provide proof then Umar said he would stone him. The wife eventually confessed that she had given her slave girl to the man which provided sufficient evidence for Umar to take no further action against him. This teaches us that we should be careful in our actions and think twice before doing something wrong as there are consequences for our actions even if we do not get caught immediately. We should also strive to be honest in all matters as it is better than trying to hide or deny something when confronted by authorities or people in power.
