Prohibiting Marriage of Aunt and Niece

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to marry two women who are related as aunt and niece.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said "One cannot be married to a woman and her paternal aunt, or a woman and her maternal aunt at the same time".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us that it is not permissible to marry two women who are related as aunt and niece. This means that a man cannot be married to a woman and her paternal aunt or a woman and her maternal aunt at the same time. The Prophet ﷺ taught us this so that we can protect our families from any potential harm or confusion that could arise if such marriages were allowed. He also wanted us to maintain strong family ties by avoiding any kind of conflict between relatives due to marriage. We should remember this teaching of the Prophet ﷺ when considering marriage in order to ensure peace within our families.
