(Book 20, Hadith 252) #36015
Praising Allah After Returning from a Journey

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite three takbirs on every elevated part of the land and then recite a prayer praising Allah for His power, mercy, and promise.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that when the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, returned from a military expedition or a hajj or an umra, he used to say three takbirs on every elevated part of the land, and then he used to say, "There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom and to Him belongs the praise and He has power over everything. Returning, making tawba, serving, prostrating, praising our Lord. Allah has promised truly and given His slave victory and defeated the tribes alone".

QUICK LESSONS:
Express gratitude towards Allah through words or deeds .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was known for his humility and gratitude towards Allah. Whenever he returned home after a journey, whether it be for military expedition or pilgrimage, he would recite three takbirs on every elevated part of the land as an expression of his gratitude to God. He would then recite a prayer praising Allah for His power, mercy, and promise that He has given victory to His slaves. This hadith teaches us that we should always be grateful to God in all circumstances and express our appreciation through words or deeds. We should also remember that no matter how difficult our situation may be, with faith in God we can overcome any obstacle because He is powerful enough to grant us victory over any enemy or difficulty we face in life.
