Praying Before Sunrise

SUMMARY: Umar ibn al-Khattab did tawaf of the House and prayed two rakahs when he saw that the sun had not yet risen.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Humayd ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf that Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abd al-Qari mentioned to him that he once did tawaf of the House with Umar ibn al-Khattab after subh and when Umar had finished his tawaf he looked and saw that the sun had not yet risen, so he rode on until he made his camel kneel at Dhu Tuwa, and he prayed two rakahs.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be punctual with your prayers; Strive to perform them as soon as possible after their prescribed time has begun; Be mindful of your surroundings; Take advantage of any opportunity you have to do good deeds such as prayer or charity work etc., even if it's just a few minutes earlier than usual or later than usual .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Umar ibn al-Khattab doing tawaf of the House and praying two rakahs before sunrise. Tawaf is a ritual in which Muslims circumambulate around the Kaaba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction. Subh is another name for morning prayer which Muslims perform at dawn before sunrise. In this hadith, Umar was performing his tawaf when he noticed that the sun hadn't risen yet so he rode on until he made his camel kneel at Dhu Tuwa and prayed two rakahs there. This shows us how important it is to be punctual with our prayers and how we should strive to perform them as soon as possible after their prescribed time has begun. It also teaches us about being mindful of our surroundings and taking advantage of any opportunity we have to do good deeds such as prayer or charity work etc., even if it's just a few minutes earlier than usual or later than usual.
