The Punishment of Uncharitable Wealth

SUMMARY: Wealth that is not given in charity will be punished on the Day of Judgement.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abu's-Salih as-Samman that Abu Hurayra used to say, "Anyone who has wealth on which he has not paid zakat will, on the day of rising, find his wealth made to resemble a white-headed serpent with a sac of venom in each cheek which will seek him out until it has him in its power, saying, 'I am the wealth that you had hidden away'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Give your wealth away in charity according to God's commands.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of giving charity and how it is a form of worship for Muslims. It warns us against hoarding wealth and not giving it away in charity as Allah has commanded us to do so. On the day of judgement, those who have not paid their zakat will find their wealth transformed into a white headed serpent with venomous sacs in its cheeks which will seek them out until they are under its power. This serves as a reminder for us to give our wealth away in charity and be generous with what we have been blessed with by Allah Almighty.
