Longing for Allah's Meeting

SUMMARY: Allah desires to meet those who desire to meet Him, and is averse to meeting those who are averse to meeting Him.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said, 'If My slave longs to meet Me, I long to meet him, and if he is averse to meeting Me, I am averse to meeting him'. "

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of longing for the meeting with Allah. It is narrated by Yahya from Malik from Abu'z Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah said that Allah has said “If My slave longs to meet Me, I long to meet him and if he is averse to meeting Me I am averse to meeting him”. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive for closeness with our Creator and be eager in seeking His pleasure. We should never be apathetic or indifferent towards our relationship with Him as He will also reciprocate in kind. We must remember that it is only through His mercy and grace that we can ever hope for success in this life and the hereafter. Therefore it is important for us as Muslims not only seek out opportunities where we can increase our knowledge about Islam but also actively strive towards pleasing Him through good deeds such as charity or helping others in need.
