Prayer for the Deceased

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) announced the death of an Najashi and led a prayer for him.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Said ibn al- Musayyab from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, announced the death of an Najashi to everyone on the day that he died, and went out with them to the place of prayer, and then formed them into rows and said "Allah is greater" four times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's announcement of the death of an Najashi and leading a prayer for him. It is narrated by Yahya from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Said ibn al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayra that when the Messenger of Allah heard about an Najashi's death he announced it to everyone on that day and went out with them to lead a prayer in his honour. He formed them into rows and said "Allah is greater" four times as part of his prayer. This hadith teaches us that we should remember those who have passed away by praying for them in their honour. We should also be respectful towards those who have died by showing our condolences to their families or loved ones if possible.
