The Equivalence of Night and Day Hizb Reading

SUMMARY: Reading the hizb (portion of the Qur'an) from when the sun has passed the meridian until dhuhr prayer is equivalent to reading it at night.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Dawud ibn al-Husayn from al- Araj from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abd al-Qari that Umar ibn al Khattab said, "Whoever misses reading his hizb at night and reads it from when the sun has passed the meridian until the dhuhr prayer has not missed it, or it is as if he has caught it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take advantage of moments wisely by engaging in activities beneficial for spiritual growth such as reciting verses from Allah's book .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that reading a portion of the Qur'an, known as a hizb, during day time is equivalent to reading it at night. Umar ibn al Khattab was one of Prophet Muhammad's companions and he said that if someone misses their hizb at night but reads it from when the sun has passed its meridian until dhuhr prayer, then they have not missed it or in other words, they have caught up on their recitation. This hadith encourages Muslims to read portions of the Qur'an throughout their day and not just limit themselves to nighttime recitations. It also teaches us that we should take advantage of our time and use every moment wisely by engaging in activities that are beneficial for our spiritual growth such as reciting verses from Allah's book.
