(Book 9, Hadith 24) #35405
Praying While Travelling

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar never used to pray anything with the fard prayer while travelling, except in the depths of the night. He would pray on the ground or on his mount, whichever way it was facing.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar never used to pray anything with the fard prayer, either before it or after it, while travelling, except in the depths of the night. He would pray on the ground or on his mount, whichever way it was facing.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your obligations even when you're away from home; Strive for excellence in all situations; Remember Allah is always watching over you no matter where you are and what you're doing; Perform supplications along with obligatory prayers during nights while travelling .

EXPLANATIONS:
Abdullah ibn Umar was a companion of Prophet Muhammad and one of his most devoted followers. He was known for his piety and devotion to Allah's commands. This hadith tells us that when travelling, he would only perform supplications in addition to the obligatory prayer during the depths of night. He would either pray on the ground or on his mount, whichever way it was facing at that time. This teaches us that we should be mindful of our obligations even when we are away from home and not let our travels distract us from fulfilling them properly. We should also remember that Allah is always watching over us no matter where we are and what we are doing so we must strive to do our best in all situations.
