(Book 8, Hadith 19) #35361
Following Prayer of a Leader

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was ill and Abu Bakr was leading the prayer. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) indicated to Abu Bakr to stay where he was and sat by his side, allowing the people to follow Abu Bakr's prayer.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came out during his illness, and approached and found Abu Bakr standing, leading the people in prayer. Abu Bakr began to go back, but the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, indicated to him to stay where he was. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sat by the side of Abu Bakr, and Abu Bakr prayed following the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who was sitting, and the people prayed following the prayer of Abu Bakr.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your leaders , Follow instructions , Accept help when needed .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of following a leader in prayer even if they are not the Prophet Muhammad himself. It shows that even when ill, the Prophet Muhammad still wanted to lead people in prayer but instead allowed Abu Bakr to do so while he sat by his side. This teaches us that we should always respect our leaders and follow their instructions as long as it does not go against Islamic teachings. We should also be humble enough to accept help when needed and allow others who are more capable than us take charge in certain situations.
