Overcoming Shaytan's Confusion During Prayer

SUMMARY: When praying, Shaytan will try to confuse you and make you forget how much you have prayed. If this happens, do two prostrations from the sitting position.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abu Salama ibn Abdar-Rahman ibn Awf from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When you stand in prayer, Shaytan comes to you and confuses you until you do not know how much you have prayed. If you find that happening do two sajdas from the sitting position".

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with focus and concentration

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and how to overcome any confusion that may arise during it. The Messenger of Allah said that when we stand in prayer, Satan will come and try to confuse us until we don't know how much we have prayed. To counter this confusion he advised us to do two prostrations from the sitting position if this happens. This hadith teaches us that prayer is an important part of our faith and should be done with focus and concentration so as not to be confused by Satan's tricks. It also teaches us that if we are confused or distracted during our prayers then there is a way for us to get back on track by doing two prostrations from the sitting position.
