Obligation of Ghusl After Circumcision

SUMMARY: Circumcision requires a person to perform ghusl (ritual bath).

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to say, "When the circumcised part passes the circumcised part, ghusl is obligatory".

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform ghusl after circumcision according to Islamic teachings .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the obligation of performing ghusl after circumcision. According to this hadith, when the circumcised part passes the circumcised part, it is obligatory for a person to perform ghusl or ritual bath. This means that when two circumcised parts come in contact with each other during sexual intercourse or any other activity that involves physical contact between two people who are both circumcised then it is necessary for them to take a ritual bath afterwards. This ritual bath is known as Istihala in Arabic and it helps purify oneself from any impurities that may have been caused by such activities. It also helps maintain cleanliness and purity which are important values in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us this obligation so that we can stay away from anything impure and remain clean at all times.
