Signalling with the Head in Nose-Bleeding Situations

SUMMARY: It is permissible to signal with the head instead of doing sajda or ruku when afflicted by a nose-bleed which does not stop.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Said ibn al-Musayyab was asked, "What do you say about someone who is afflicted by a nose-bleed which does not stop? "Malik said that Yahya ibn Said said that Said ibn al Musayyab said, "I say that he should signal with his head". (ie instead of doing sajda or ruku) Yahya said that Malik said, "That is what I like most out of what I have heard about the matter".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful and considerate in religious practices; Respect physical limitations; Look for alternatives when needed.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses a situation where someone is afflicted by a nose-bleed which does not stop. In such cases, it is permissible to signal with the head instead of doing sajda or ruku. This was said by Said ibn al Musayyab and Malik liked this opinion most out of what he heard about the matter. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful and considerate in our religious practices and that there are alternatives available for those who are unable to perform certain acts due to physical limitations or other reasons.
