Musnad Ahmad 1280 (Book 5, Hadith 686) #34912
Listening Before Judging

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed Ali to listen to both sides of a dispute before making a judgement.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah sent me as a judge and said: 'If two disputants come to you, do not pass judgement against one of them until you hear what the other has to say, then the right verdict will become clear to you'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Listen carefully and objectively before making any judgements or decisions.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of listening before judging. It was narrated by 'Ali ibn Abi Talib that the Messenger of Allah sent him as a judge and said that if two disputants come to him he should not pass judgement against one until he hears what the other has to say. This means that it is important for us to listen carefully and objectively before making any judgements or decisions. We should also be aware of our own biases and prejudices when we are listening so that we can make sure our judgements are fair and just. By doing this, we can ensure that justice is served in all cases.
