QUICK LESSONS:
Make supplications & prostrations even after obligatory prayers .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of supplication and prostration in the life of a believer. It was narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib that the Messenger of Allah used to pray two rak’ahs following every prescribed prayer except for Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. This is an indication that Muslims should strive to make supplications and prostrations even after their obligatory prayers as it is a way to increase one’s faith in Allah SWT and draw closer to Him. It also serves as a reminder for us that we should never forget our Lord even when we are done with our daily obligations such as praying five times a day or fasting during Ramadan etc., but rather continue seeking His mercy through supplications and prostrations throughout our lives.
