Musnad Ahmad 777 (Book 5, Hadith 209) #34435
Praying While Impure

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led the people in prayer while he was in a state of ritual impurity, and then instructed them to do the same if they were in a similar state or heard a sound from their stomach.

It was narrated that 'Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah led us in prayer. He left then he came back, and his head was dripping with water, and he led us in prayer. Then he said: 'I led you in prayer just now when I was junub. Whoever is in the state I was in or hears a sound in his stomach, let him do what I did'.
