The Sunnah of Witr Prayer

SUMMARY: Witr prayer is not obligatory, but it is a Sunnah established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: Witr is not a must like regular prayer, but it is a Sunnah that was established by the Messenger of Allah .

TOPICS
witr

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform witr prayer with sincerity and devotion .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith states that the witr prayer, which is an extra prayer performed at night after Isha and before Fajr, is not obligatory like regular prayers. However, it was established as a sunnah by the Messenger of Allah. A sunnah refers to an action or practice that was done by the Prophet Muhammad and has been recommended for Muslims to follow. This hadith encourages Muslims to perform witr as a way of following in the footsteps of their beloved prophet and gaining reward from Allah. It also serves as a reminder that although performing this extra prayer may be difficult due to its timing late at night, it still carries great reward with it if done with sincerity and devotion.
