EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of sacrificing animals with certain physical deformities. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, forbade sacrificing an animal if its ears were slit from the front, an animal whose ears were slit from the back, an animal whose ears were slit in two lengthwise, an animal with a round hole in its ear and an animal with its nose [or ear or lip] cut off. This hadith teaches us to respect all living creatures and to not cause them any harm or suffering unnecessarily. It also teaches us that we should not take advantage of any creature's vulnerability and instead show mercy towards them as Allah has shown mercy towards us. We should also remember that Allah is watching over us at all times and will reward those who are kind to His creation accordingly.
