QUICK LESSONS:
Choose leaders carefully, Maintain peace at all costs

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about the death of Uthman in 35 AH and the turmoil that followed for five years. During this time, al-Hasan was made ruler for four months. This hadith highlights how a leader’s death can cause chaos in a society as it did after Uthman’s death. It also shows how people can come together to try to restore peace even if it is only temporary like during al-Hasan’s rule. The lesson here is that leaders should be chosen carefully as their decisions have far reaching consequences on society and peace should be maintained at all costs.
