Concession for Pilgrims in Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) granted a concession to pilgrims in ihram that they may apply aloes to their eyes if they have a problem.

It was narrated from Aban bin 'Uthman (رضي الله عنه) that he narrated from 'Uthman (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah granted a concession, or said concerning the pilgrim in ihram, if he has a problem in his eyes, that he may apply aloes to them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Apply aloe vera on eyes if needed while observing Ihraam .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's concession for pilgrims in ihram. During the pilgrimage of Hajj or Umrah, Muslims are required to enter into a state of consecration known as ihram. In this state of consecration certain activities are prohibited such as wearing perfume or cutting one's hair and nails. However, if someone has an eye problem then the Prophet Muhammad granted them permission to apply aloe vera on their eyes as long as it does not contain any scent or fragrance. This hadith teaches us that even during times of worship we should be mindful and considerate towards those who may need special accommodations due to health issues or disabilities.
