Musnad Ahmad 493 (Book 4, Hadith 86) #34160
The Power of Wudu in Prayer

SUMMARY: Wudu is an important part of prayer and if done correctly, it can help one's sins to be forgiven.

It was narrated from Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman (رضي الله عنه) that 'Uthman did wudoo’ in al-Maqa'id, he washed each part of the body three times and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever does wudoo’ as I have done then gets up to pray, his sins will fall away, ie, from his face, his hands, his feet and his head'.

EXPLANATIONS:
Wudu is an important part of Islamic prayer and has many benefits. It was narrated from Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman that Uthman did wudoo in al-Maqa'id, he washed each part of the body three times and said that he heard the Messenger of Allah say that whoever does wudoo as he had done then gets up to pray, his sins will fall away from his face, hands, feet and head. This means that if one performs wudu correctly with intention for repentance then their sins will be forgiven by Allah SWT. This hadith also teaches us about humility as Uthman was a great leader yet still performed ablution like any other person would do. Furthermore it encourages us to make supplications during our prayers as this is another way for our sins to be forgiven by Allah SWT.
