Sleeping While Junub

SUMMARY: It is permissible to sleep while in a state of ritual impurity (junub) if one performs ablution as for prayer.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that 'Umar رضي الله عنه asked the Prophet : Can one of us sleep if he is junub? He said: 'Yes, if he does wudoo’ as for prayer'. It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that 'Umar asked the Prophet . a similar hadeeth.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ هَلْ يَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ مِثْلَهُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the permissibility of sleeping while in a state of ritual impurity or junub. The Prophet Muhammad was asked by Umar if it was permissible to sleep while junub and the Prophet replied that it is permissible as long as one performs ablution or wudoo as for prayer. This hadith teaches us that although we must perform ablutions before performing any acts of worship such as prayer or reciting the Quran, we are still allowed to rest even when we are in a state of ritual impurity. It also teaches us that cleanliness is important and should be maintained at all times. We should strive to keep ourselves clean and perform our religious duties with utmost care and attention.
