SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad used to stay up at night talking with Abu Bakr discussing some affairs of the Muslims, and Umar was present.

It was narrated that ʼUmar said: The Messenger of Allah used to stay up at night talking with Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه, discussing some affairs of the Muslims, and I was with him.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَسْمُرُ عِنْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ اللَّيْلَةَ كَذَلِكَ فِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ‏.‏

The hadith narrated by Umar tells us that the Prophet Muhammad used to stay up late at night talking with his companion, Abu Bakr.
