Musnad Ahmad 45 (Book 1, Hadith 44) #33742
The Dearest Day for Abu Bakr

SUMMARY: Abu Bakr, when he was dying, asked what day it was and requested to be buried as soon as possible because the day closest to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the dearest to him.

Muhammad bin Muyassar Abu Sa'd as-saghani al-Makfoot narrated: Hisham bin 'Lirwah narrated to us from his father that 'Aʼishah said; When Abu Bakr was dying, he said: What day is it? They said: Monday. He said: if I die tonight, do not wait until tomorrow to bury me, for the dearest of days and nights to me is that which is closest to the Messenger of Allah .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how much Abu Bakr loved and respected the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. When he knew he was going to die, he asked what day it was so that he could be buried on a day close to the Prophet's death anniversary. He wanted this because being close to the beloved prophet meant a lot for him and made that particular day even more special than any other. This hadith teaches us how important it is for us Muslims to love and respect our beloved prophet ﷺ in all aspects of our lives, even in death. We should strive every single day of our lives to follow his teachings and emulate his character so we can become closer with him in this life and hopefully meet him again in Jannah inshaAllah!
