Sunan Ibn Majah 4132 (Book 37, Hadith 33) #33488
Wealth and Debt Management

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ does not want to have a lot of wealth and be left with nothing after paying off his debts.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "I would not like to have (the equivalent of) Uhud in gold, then a third night comes to me and I have anything of it left, except something that I set aside to pay off a debt".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about managing wealth and debt. The Prophet (ﷺ) was teaching us that it is important to manage our finances responsibly. He did not want to have a lot of wealth, such as the equivalent of Uhud in gold, but then find himself with nothing left after paying off his debts. This teaches us that we should be careful when spending money, so that we can pay off our debts without having nothing left for ourselves. We should also strive to save money for the future, so that we are prepared for any unexpected expenses or emergencies.
