Visiting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: Ali visited the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) twice a day, and if he came while the Prophet was praying, he would clear his throat to let him know.

It was narrated that Ali said: "I had two times of visiting the Messenger of Allah, at night and during the day. If I came to him when he was praying, he would clear his throat (to let me know he was praying)".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُجَىٍّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ كَانَ لِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ ـ مُدْخَلاَنِ مُدْخَلٌ بِاللَّيْلِ وَمُدْخَلٌ بِالنَّهَارِ فَكُنْتُ إِذَا أَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي يَتَنَحْنَحُ لِي

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the respect that should be shown when visiting the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. It is narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib that he used to visit the Messenger of Allah twice a day; once during the night and once during the day. If he came while the Messenger was praying, he would clear his throat as a sign of respect so as not to disturb him in prayer. This hadith teaches us about respecting those who are engaged in worship and shows us how we should behave when visiting someone important or respected. We should always show respect for those around us and remember that our actions have consequences.
