Sahih al-Bukhari 3453, 3454 (Book 60, Hadith 121) #3299
Warning Against Building Places of Worship at Graves

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) warned Muslims against the practices of Jews and Christians, which was to build places of worship at the graves of their prophets.

Narrated 'Aisha and Ibn 'Abbas: On his death-bed Allah's Messenger put a sheet over his-face and when he felt hot, he would remove it from his face. When in that state (of putting and removing the sheet) he said, "May Allah's Curse be on the Jews and the Christians for they build places of worship at the graves of their prophets". (By that) he intended to warn (the Muslim) from what they (ie Jews and Christians) had done.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic teachings instead following those practiced by non-Muslims ; Direct our worship towards Allah alone ; Not associate any partners with Him ; Not make idols out anything else ; Not seek blessings from anyone other than God alone .

EXPLANATIONS:
On his deathbed, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ put a sheet over his face to cool himself down. During this time he said “May Allah’s Curse be on the Jews and the Christians for they build places of worship at the graves of their prophets”. This hadith is a warning from Allah's Messenger ﷺ to Muslims not to follow in the footsteps of Jews and Christians by building places of worship at graves. It is important for us as Muslims to remember that we should only direct our worship towards Allah alone and not associate any partners with Him or make idols out of anything else. We should also remember that we are not allowed to pray or seek blessings from anyone other than Allah alone as this would be considered shirk or associating partners with Him which is one major sin in Islam.
