Beauty in Diversity

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ praised people who dyed their hair with henna and Katam, and also praised the one who dyed his hair yellow.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Prophet passed by a man who had dyed his hair with henna and said: 'How handsome this is!’ Then he passed by another who had dyed his hair with henna and Katam, and said: 'This one is more handsome than that one.’ Then he passed by another who had dyed his hair yellow and said: 'This one is more handsome than all of them.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Appreciate beauty in diversity & be humble when praising others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about appreciating beauty in diversity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by three people who had dyed their hair differently - one with henna, another with henna and katam, and the last one with yellow dye. He praised each of them for their unique style of dyeing their hair. This teaches us that beauty comes in many forms, and we should appreciate it no matter what form it takes. We should not be judgmental or critical of others based on how they look or dress; instead we should appreciate the differences between us all as a sign of Allah's mercy upon us.

This hadith also teaches us to be humble when praising others; even though the Prophet ﷺ was praising these individuals for their unique styles, he did not say that any one was more beautiful than another - rather he said that each person was more handsome than the last. This shows us that we should always strive to be humble when complimenting others so as not to make anyone feel inferior or belittled due to our words or actions.
