The Power of Simplicity

SUMMARY: The Prophet saw a man wearing a brass ring and advised him to take it off as it would only make him weaker.

It was narrated from 'Imran bin Husain that the Prophet saw a man with a brass ring on his hand. He said: "What is this ring?" He said: "It is for Wahinah".* He said: "Take it off, for it will only increase you in weakness".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي الْخَصِيبِ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ مُبَارَكٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ رَأَى رَجُلاً فِي يَدِهِ حَلْقَةٌ مِنْ صُفْرٍ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مَا هَذِهِ الْحَلْقَةُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ هَذِهِ مِنَ الْوَاهِنَةِ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ انْزِعْهَا فَإِنَّهَا لاَ تَزِيدُكَ إِلاَّ وَهْنًا
