Prohibiting Breathing Into Vessels

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade breathing into a vessel.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah forbade breathing into the vessel".
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ عَنِ التَّنَفُّسِ فِي الإِنَاءِ

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's prohibition of breathing into a vessel. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas, one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad and his cousin. This hadith teaches us that we should not breathe into vessels as it is considered to be disrespectful and impolite. We should also respect our elders and follow their instructions even if we do not understand why they are asking us to do something.
