EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of not associating any other being with Allah in worship. It was narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and was revealed when the companions of the Prophet asked who amongst them has not mixed their belief with wrong. In response to this question, Allah revealed a verse which states that joining others in worship with Allah is a great wrong indeed. This hadith teaches us that we should only worship and believe in one God - Allah - and no one else. We should also be careful not to mix our beliefs or practices with those which are contrary to Islam as this would be considered a great sin.
