Prohibiting the Consumption of Donkey Meat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad commanded his followers to not eat the meat of domesticated donkeys, and this commandment was never revoked.

It was narrated that Bara’ bin 'Azib said: "The Messenger of Allah commanded us to throw away the meat of domesticated donkeys, raw or cooked, then he did not say anything to us about it after that".
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، قَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ أَنْ نُلْقِيَ لُحُومَ الْحُمُرِ الأَهْلِيَّةِ نِيئَةً وَنَضِيجَةً ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا بِهِ بَعْدُ
