Lowering Garments in Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions were in Ihram and when a rider passed by, they would lower their garments from the top of their heads.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "We were with the Prophet , and we were in Ihram. When a rider met us we would lower our garments from the top of our heads, and when he has gone, we would lift them up again". Another chain reports a similar hadith.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect for those around you regardless if they are strangers or not; Be mindful of your actions; Strive to be modest at all times; Lower your garments from the top of your head when a rider passes by you while you are in iḥrām.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of modesty while in a state of pilgrimage known as iḥrām. When the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions were in iḥrām, they would lower their garments from the top of their heads when a rider passed by them. This was done to show respect for the rider and to maintain modesty. It teaches us that we should always be mindful of our actions and strive to be modest at all times, even during times of worship or pilgrimage. We should also remember that respect is an important part of our faith, so we should always show respect for those around us regardless if they are strangers or not.
